Fatal accident involving college student!

Sep 8, 2009.  College Station, TX – Police believe a four-door Mazda was waiting to make a left turn, when the car got caught in the middle of the intersection as the light turned red. The Mazda tried to complete the turn, when a motorcycle ran the red light and hit the right broadside of the car. The driver of the motorcycle, was seriously injured in the wreck, and was transported by emergency medical services (EMS) crews to a local hospital for treatment.  The rider, a college sophomore, was pronounced dead by attending medical professionals at the hospital.

It’s such a shame that this accident could have been prevented had the rider been more alert.  Deepest condolences go out to the rider’s friends and family.  Speed safe!

Fatality in national park!

Officials report a fatal motorcycle accident that happened on the way in Glacier National Park.  One rider out of a group of 27 apparently lost control of his bike and went over the edge of the road.  The man was deceased when rangers arrived on scene.

Not too much detail on this report regarding the use of a helmet or road conditions but once again, rider skill comes into question.  Speed-safe friends!

Fatal accident in Monson, Mass.

Sep. 7, 2009 – A preliminary investigation reveals that a 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 lost control when the rider entered a slight curve in the roadway.  Authorities added that the man had been wearing a helmet and the motorcycle never left the road.

Unfortunately in some cases, safety gear just will not help in an accident. However the rhetorical question begs to be asked… How skillful was the rider? Our deepest sympathy goes out to his friends and family.  Speed-Safe my friends!

Accident in Missouri with minor injuries

Rider suffered moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on Sep. 7, 2009.  A 1997 Harley Davidson was being driven by a 44-year-old male, when he failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle ran off the left side of the road and went into a ditch.

It is unknown if safety gear was used but thank goodness the rider did not suffer anything major.  Without knowing the condition of the road at the time of the crash, rider skill would come into question.  Remember… Speed-Safe my friends!

Welcome to Speed-Safe!

Hello fellow motorcycle riders.  First of all, by no means am I an expert rider, or the leading authority in riding gear.  I am just an avid rider wanting to share my opinion about something I feel strongly about.  To some, the age old question exists on whether to wear your riding gear or not.  The intention of this is to encourage the use of safety gear and proper riding techniques in order to minimize serious injury and to prevent tragic accidents from happening to yourselves and/or to loved-ones.  Feel free to share experiences and lessons learned with everyone interested.  Speed-Safe my friends!
